Nonnie's the author - we're just the editors!
Here's a bit about us...
Melanie:
Melanie (Patty's daughter) was raised in Las Vegas but spent many summers in Connecticut with her beloved Nonnie . Always with journals in hand, she knew early on that Nonnie’s words were golden and meant to be preserved. Melanie attended the University of Nevada, Las Vegas where she was a theatre major and was then accepted into the Professional Actor Training Program at the University of Washington in Seattle. It was there that Melanie met her husband, Actor/Songwriter Jeff Jeffcoat. After receiving her MFA, she and Jeff moved to Los Angeles to pursue their careers. They found work in film and theatre and Melanie also worked in New York on the soap “All my Children”. Melanie has worked regionally in some of the finest theatres, including two seasons at the Tony Award winning Utah Shakespearean Festival, the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Idaho Shakespeare Festival as well South Coast Repertory in Orange County where she received a Dramalogue Award for her work in Noel Coward’s “Hay Fever”. Melanie also co-founded the Award winning and critically acclaimed Circle X Theatre Co (www.circlextheatre.org). It was with her theatre company that Melanie had the opportunities to not only perform, but also to produce, direct, develop and market world premiere plays. Melanie currently resides Alabama where her focus has shifted to writing and filmmaking. She has produced two short films, finished a screenplay, taught at the University of Montevallo and is writing her first novel. Melanie is also currently in production with a documentary entitled, “Show of Hands: The Legacy of Voting Rights in Alabama”. Working with her cousin, Kristin, and developing ‘Nonnie’s Kitchen” has been a joy and it keeps Mary Cellucci Tringe alive and well and in the kitchen!
Kristin:
Kristin (Billy's daughter) was born and raised in Holdrege, Nebraska. Like all Nonnie's grandkids, she spent three weeks in Connecticut with Nonnie when she was 13, which they now affectionately refer to as "boot camp." One of Kristin's favorite memories from this time was Nonnie's exacting instructions on how to slice garlic. She is now proud to be among the premier garlic slicers in the greater Washington, D.C. area.
She recently earned a B.A. in Art History from Boston University, and is currently gainfully employed on Capitol Hill. As part of the requirements for her degree, she spent four months in Rome, Italy, where she was supposed to be studying. Instead, she spent most of her time exploring regional kitchens, wine, and culture. It was during these months that her love for food and cooking manifested itself.
Getting into Nonnie's Kitchen has been such an exciting exploration of her heritage. When she isn't working, cooking, or cookbooking, she's blogging! Check out the latest at www.petitpoule.blogspot.com.
